4 STACY WOLFF Global Head of Personal Systems Design Houston, Texas Much of technology over the past 50 years has been without warmth, or as some might say, “technology” equals cold, harsh, and uninviting. Those days thankfully are changing, and design at HP is leading the transformation. Simply put, design is the strategy at HP. So as we look to the future, new experiences demand new solutions that have soul, appeal to our passions, appeal to our senses—that are more human. 5 HELENA HERRERO MD, Southern Europe Madrid, Spain We ask ourselves, “How much smarter can we make a machine?” The key question, from my point of view, should be, “How much smarter can humans become with machines?” This is my hope for the future of technology, that we, as humans, can take the maximum advantage of new technological advances to enhance our capabilities. I hope that machines will free us up from all repetitive, low-value-added tasks, so that people can spend time on what makes us different and unique and able to delve into our creative and empathetic sides. I hope that HP can help write this chapter, bringing innovation and breakthroughs that help make life better for everyone, everywhere. 32 HP Innovation Journal Issue 14
