calculating machine in everyone ’ s pocket . He charged his engineers with this exact goal , using the size of his shirt pocket as a guide . The result ? Adopt an innovation mindset While envisioning the future will show you the way , adopting an innovation mindset will help you cross the finish line . To ensure your business can deliver on the future you envision , executives , intrapreneurs , and employees at all levels must continually look for ways to foresee , embrace , and reach for change , rather than respond to it .
CEOs and leaders must optimize their teams ’ abilities to see what ’ s coming and pivot with speed and ease by creating an innovation-friendly operating model . This means encouraging and embracing new ideas , inventions , and new business incubation . Let ideas flow organically and embrace failure . Failure is a critical part of success . Bill Gates ’ s first company , Traf-O-Data , lasted less than three years . Arianna Huffington was once rejected by three dozen publishers . Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper for not being creative . Commit to innovation as a mission-critical capability for your business .
For entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs , it ’ s about taking on the mindset of a startup founder . Craft a plan for execution that allows you to move dynamically and at market speed . Instigate , not imitate , and keep a laser focus on your ability to win . Leverage the broader ecosystem , and don ’ t be afraid to pivot and adapt based on what the market teaches you .
THE HP-35 CALCULATOR This pocket-sized machine , launched in 1972 , paved the way for mobile computing and other handheld devices .
It ’ s also critical we feed our innovative spirit by giving ourselves time and space to explore and take risks , continually learn , and step outside our comfort zone .
We are all futurists The world is changing rapidly around us . The better you are at thinking like a futurist , the more you will be able to create the future you want . It will be yours to imagine , yours to invent , and your greatest opportunity . And the best thing is , it hasn ’ t happened yet .
What future will you create ?

The goal is to scale MOXIE or multiple MOXIEs to create liquid oxygen propellant for rocket fuel to send manned missions back to Earth .
